Athletics: Review for 2003/04

Indoor Athletics is offered as a club to both boys and girls throughout the year, and has proved extremely popular.  In a new venture, the schools in the WKCCL were invited to an indoor competition at Somerhill and it was so well received that two matches have been arranged for next winter season, As a new member of IAPS, Derwent Lodge joined Yardley Court to take part in the regional athletics meeting at Ashford.  Charlotte Daniels won the Shot with a throw of 5.56m and Sammie Weir came second in the High Jump with a qualfying jump of 1.21 m. These two girls went on to represent West Kent in the National Finals in Birmingham, where Charlotte threw a new school record of 6.14m. All  the girls have made considerable progress in athletics, and over half of all results at Sports Day were personal best performances.
