Athletics: Review for 2008/09

Eleven school records have been broken this year (compared to four in total last year) and this once again demonstrates improving standards in athletics at DL. Congratulations to our record breakers who are;
Yr 3 Grace Annetts 100m (15.6s), Connie Howard Rounders ball throw (26m 61cm)
Yr 4 Francesca Reali 100m (15.1s), Beth Peachey 600m (2m 12.1s), Grasmere 4 x 200m Relay team (2m 30.6s)
Yr 5 Emma Wadsworth Long Jump (3m 60cm), Sophie Gull Javelin (11m 05cm), Maddie Hughes Shot (5m 73cm)
Yr 6 Eliza macLachlan High Jump (1m 24cm), Charis Heim Discus (16m 37cm), Hannah Kinsey Shot (6m 37cm)
An incredible 153 ‘personal best’ scores were achieved at Sports Day, and the girls should be congratulated on the tremendous effort they put in to make the events so exciting to watch.
DL athletes have performed very well in school matches this season. The junior girls are unbeaten in competition and have won against Brambletye, Windlesham House, St Michael’s, Kent College and Rose Hill.
