Derwent Lodge Swimming

Our swimming pool will be ready for the next academic year, and this should be a great asset to the school. We will then be able to teach all our pupils water safety, and work on stroke techniques. We look forward to competing against other schools in galas and entering swimming events within the County.

This season, 8 girls from Years 5 and 6 were entered for the IAPS National time trials held at Walthamstow Hall. Our swimmers came up against very good opposition in the time trials, and Annie Cassidy emerged as our best swimmer by winning her 25m Butterfly race. She achieved the 19th best place out of over 100 time recorded nationally, but only the best 12 are invited to the finals. Other swimmers who trialled were Hannah Kinsey, Charis Heim and Sydnie Hodgkins also in Year 5. The Year 6 swimmers were Hannah Capewell, Annabel Estlin, Lily Wadsworth and Abigail Leach.
