The School Week and Day

A Typical Day at Derwent Lodge
8.00 – This is the earliest time the school is open; I can go to my form room now and quietly get on with some reading or finishing off.8.30 – Registration happens now and any notices for the day are given out by our form teacher. My prep diary will be checked for messages from my parents. I make sure I have everything ready for the first two lessons.
8.40 – This is the time for assembly, and we all meet in the Grand Salon. Sometimes forms present an assembly, sometimes we have visiting speakers or a house meeting. We also have hymn practice once a week.
9.05 to 10.25 – First two lessons
10.25 – Break time with a drink and a homemade biscuit plus the chance to chat and play in the grounds.
10.55 to 12.15 – Third and fourth lessons
12.15 – Years 3 and 4 have lunch. Years 5 and 6 usually have a reading period or sometimes another lesson
12.55 – Years 3 and 4 have reading time. Years 5 and 6 have lunch.
We all have a cooked lunch and our teachers sit with us on round tables of 10. If we prefer we can have a salad. For pudding we always have a choice of fruit or the dessert on the menu.
1.20 to 2.00 – Break time, but often there are team practices or fun sports clubs happening. Choir, orchestra, wind band and other musical clubs happen during this time too.
2.00 to 3.10 – Lessons 6 and 7
3.10 to 3.20 – Snack break with a quick drink and piece of fruit to keep going.
3.20 to 4.30 – Lessons 8 and 9
4.30 – Home time, a supervised prep session or time for a club until 5.20 pm.
