A Typical Day at Derwent Lodge
8.00 – This is the earliest time the school is open; I can go to my form room now and quietly get on with some reading or finishing off.
8.25 – A very quick registration happens now and then I get ready for the first two lessons of the day.
8.30 to 8.50 – This is the time for assembly, and we all meet in the Grand Salon. Sometimes forms present an assembly, sometimes we have visiting speakers or a house meeting. We also have hymn practice once a week at this time.
8.50 – 10.50 – First two lessons.
10.50 – 11.15 - Break time with a drink and a homemade biscuit plus the chance to chat and play in the grounds.
11.20 – 12.20 – Third lesson.
12.20 – Lunch time. We have a choice each day of a hot meal or salad, and soup is always on offer. For pudding we have a choice of fruit or the dessert on the menu. Our teachers always sit with us and it is a good chance to chat informally with them.
12.50 – 1.20 - Break time, but often there are team practices or fun sports clubs happening. Choir, orchestra and other musical clubs happen during this time too. Dance classes also take place now or at the end of the day.
1.25 – 1.50 – We have form time for quiet reading or PSHE and afternoon registration.
1.50 – 4.00 – Two afternoon lessons with a snack break at 2.50 for a drink and piece of fruit.
4.00 - Years 3 and 4 finish lessons and get ready to go home at 4.10 pm. There is a special junior class until 4.30 pm if anyone needs to stay later. If they need to stay even later they can go into late class in SPP.
4.30 – Home time for Years 5 and 6; a supervised prep session starts now and clubs and team practices. These go on until 5.20 pm.
