Hockey: Review for 2006-07

The U11 team reached the quarter-finals of the Kent County U11 tournament, where they unfortunately met Kings, Canterbury who beat us 2 - 0. In the first round, our team lost 1 - 0 to Herne Bay HC, beat Ashford HC 4 - 0 and Sutton Valence Prep B team 3 - 0. As newcomers to the tournament we certainly made our mark, and received some very nice compliments from the organisers.

We play a full set of fixtures for the U10 and U11 A  and B teams, and the U9s have one training match, which they won 4 - 0! The teams have won 13, drawn 3 and lost 8 of their 24 matches - our best season so far!

Most of our hockey fixtures take place in the first half of the Michaelmas term and the second half of the Lent term, as we are able to offer after school training for the teams during these times. The clubs are non-selective, except for the six sessions in Sept/Oct when the senior A and B squads train. After school summer hockey clubs have been highly beneficial for the Year 4 and 5 girls to prepare them for the matches in September. All the girls from Years 4, 5 and 6 get a chance to play at least once a fortnight in curriculum time during the season. In March, every girl in Year 4 plays in the Junior Interhouse event, and the Senior house A teams play in their Interhouse event.
