ICT at Yardley Court
In the Information and Communications Technology department we work on the basis that lessons should be fun and stimulating. With the use of technology in the world of work being ever on the increase, it is more and more important that children are familiar with a variety of programs and that they do not have the fear of computers that many of the older generation experience.
We work on a very up to date set of Personal Computers, all working on a network and with Windows XP as the operating system. We use many of the industry standard programs such as Microsoft Office as well as the most creative and popular children’s software such as Kidpix, Paintspa, touch-typing software and Maths Circus. We have two fully equipped ICT labs as well as computers in many of the classrooms to enable individual work, research on the internet and to support the use of the interactive whiteboards which are sited in many of the subject classrooms.
Each PC has the capacity for working on the internet for research using multimedia, such as sound and video, and for connecting to the network where each child has their own personal folder for storing their work created in both ICT and other subject lessons.
