Mathematics at Derwent Lodge
Throughout our mathematics teaching we aim to develop an awareness of number, shape and space and handling data, as well as enabling the children to recognise patterns and discover how mathematics links to everyday life.
The children are encouraged to challenge their understanding through problem solving and investigative work and in this way they learn to reason more effectively.
They enjoy their involvement in national and locally based mathematics competitions and in this way develop confidence and enthusiasm for the subject.
