Swimming: Review for 2004/05

This year we had no training facility available, so the achievements of the girls were all the more inspiring.

In the Michaelmas Term, we gave many girls the opportunity to swim against Kent College and, although we were beaten overall by 96 points to 74, the U10 and U11 teams and the squadron relay put up a good show. In the Lent Term , the U11 team went on to beat St Michael's and Hawthorns and contained our best swimmers from Years Five and Six. Four swimmers in this team once again proved just how strong they are by qualifying for the IAPS National Swimming Championships, which were held in Wolverhampton in May. In all, 98 schools from all over the country took part in the regional time trials and to earn a coveted place in the finals the girls had to be placed in the top twelve.  Katie Hoskin, Olivia Rendall, Sophie Capewell and Nicola Wilkinson did just that and we are very proud of their continued achievement in swimming. Katie and Olivia have swum in four National Finals in recent years! In the finals, Nicola and Sophie achieved 10th places; Katie was 11th, and, unfortunately, Olivia was too ill to swim despite the splendid effort of making the journey.  Well done girls!
