Our tennis players continue to play well at County level, and the Orange ‘A’ team narrowly lost against old rivals Bromley High in a tense and exciting final. The final score was 3 rubbers each, but Bromley scored 42 points to our 40 to take the title. The Orange ‘B’ team played exceptionally well to finish equal 3rd, having beaten ‘A’ teams on their way to the semi-final. Our Green and Red teams also played in the County tournaments, and learned a great deal from the experience.
Two school matches were arranged, and the U11 girls performed well against Marlborough House U12 team, although they lost. Ten pairs from Years Five and Six enjoyed a Saturday match when Kent College travelled up to play us from Canterbury. It was lovely to see so many of our girls involved in playing to a very high standard, and every pair won all of their matches.
Tennis is on the curriculum from Christmas onwards, where the girls improve their stroke technique playing against the vast walled areas in our multi-purpose hall. As soon as the weather is dry enough, lessons continue outside.
