8.00 – This is the time I can arrive at school. I like to get in early to check out the latest question of the day or simply to talk with my mates!
8.30 – I must be in school by now as the bell goes for registration. My form teacher has the time to talk to us about our day ahead and what we might need. They also check my prep diary to see if my parents have written any messages. I usually sort my books out at this time.
8.45 – Most days we have assembly when one of the school’s management team leads us in a moral or biblical story, we all sing a hymn and we try to out-sing the teachers who are all in the hall. Sometimes we have visiting speakers and during the year every Form will take an assembly. On Tuesdays we do not have an assembly, but either a House Meeting or congregational hymn practice. If it’s a House Meeting I meet all the boys in my house and we talk about our house point and stars totals as well as up and coming house competitions. If we beat the other house at house points we can come to school in mufti in the last week of the term and have a ‘special lunch’.
9.00 to 11.05 – Lesson time!!
11.05 – Break-time with juice (or water) plus a home-made biscuit. We spend breaks either on the fields or astro-turf depending on the weather. Some of us enjoy the climbing frames and some of my class like to sit and talk on the benches.
11.35 to 12.55 – Lesson time again.
LUNCH – One of the best times of the day! A home-made lunch and pudding served by a teacher who sits at our table. We can always have a salad and baked potato to fill those ‘empty boots’ that most of us boys have these days, should we choose.
Lunch is followed by another break before the afternoon lessons.
Most afternoons we have games. The time of year determines which sports we play. I like it because all of us get a chance to play for the school at some time during the year.
We have a very short break in the afternoon when we have juice or water again but this time served with a variety of fruit. I like the pineapples, but so do the rest of my mates, so I might have to have an apple, banana or melon if I’m late!
4.30 (4.10 for Years 3 and 4) The end of the day (or in my case not quite!) I can take part in a club or do my prep at school if I want to, which means when I get home I can relax.
5.50 – The end of prep and clubs... HOME TIME!
