Unbeaten A Teams and Tournament SuccessYardley Court have had several good results in recent weeks. The Under 8 A and Under 9 A sides remain unbeaten outside of tournament play, whilst the Colts A are also yet to be defeated both in regular fixtures and at the Regional Nationals at Epsom College.
On the Friday before half term the 1st team retained the Solefield 10s tournament, a competition we have now won for the last three years. The side won three games and drew one to end up clear winners with an unbeaten record. Last Saturday Yardley Court hosted the Hudson Cup, a sevens rugby tournament for Under 13s which is in its 41st year. The 1st team retained the trophy they won last year winning all five of their games in convincing style. On a personal level, further success was achieved by Chris Booth, who won the Player of the Tournament award. GW
Under 10s South East Regional Champions and National Semi-FinalistsDespite the success of other teams, it is the Under 10 A team who have stolen the headlines in recent weeks. First they gained the title of South East Champions at the National Schools Rugby Tournament at Epsom College and then followed it up three days later by winning the Fledgling Cup at Junior Kings Canterbury. Both these achievements are excellent and have not previously been done by a Yardley Court side.
Following their victory in the South East Nationals, they returned to Epson College to compete in the National Finals. The Finals involve the 12 best U10 sides from all over the country. Having qualified from their group and won their quarter final they were eventually beaten in the semi-final stage by a strong Warwick Junior School team who went on to win the competition. This was great achievement which equalled Yardley Court’s best ever result at the National Finals. Well done, boys, you have done us proud! GW
